Paffen is currently working on an epic biography that promises to bring to light the extraordinary art and life of Australia's finest etcher of the first half of the twentieth century, Jessie C. A. TRAILL (1881-1967), and a complete catalogue of her prints. These will be the first major scholarly publications to appear on Jessie Traill and her relatively rare work. |

Traill is known principally as the etcher of a high-profile series of prints, now deservedly famous Australian artworks, featuring the Sydney Harbour Bridge at various stages of its construction. Beside these, Traill produced well over 300 different prints, all worthy of public and scholarly attention. Her major work in oil and watercolour has been entirely neglected to date which Paffen's forthcoming publication: Traillie: The art and life of Jessie C. A. Traill promises to redress, bringing knowledge and appreciation of her entire oeuvre to a new generation. He welcomes any information that can contribute to his research on Traill, particularly the opportunity to study art by Traill, in all media, and any primary source material, still held in private collections. |
